Paris

This past summer, I had the opportunity to travel to Paris as the Teaching Assistant for the photography program here at IU.   I had some time to explore the city, particularly the 14th, 15th, and 16th arrondissements.  What struck me about these particular areas was how different they were from the postcard image of Paris I had grown so accustomed to seeing.  I began to think about how a city like Paris, which is so often defined by its past, mediates the need to honor its history while also moving forward into the future.  These particular neighborhoods offered one answer to that question.
